1.     Established (establish=létrehoz) in 1734, Bennett's of Irongate in Derby is the oldest department store (=áruház) in the world, pre-dating (=időszámítás előtt) by over 100 years the first department stores in the USA, France or other parts of Britain. It is still trading (trade=kereskedni) in the original building.

2. In London the tube (=metró) route from Leicester Square to Covenant Garden is the most popular tube route for tourists despite (=annak ellenére) the fact that it is actually quicker to cover this distance (=távolság) on foot.

3. Even though being the sovereign (=szuverén) of the United Kingdom, Her Majesty the Queen is not allowed to enter the City of London without seeking (seek=keres) the permission (=engedély) of its Lord Mayor.

4. It is an executable (execute=kivégez) offense (=bűncselekmény) to allow your pet to mate (=párzik) with a pet of the royal house without permission.

5. It is legal for a male to urinate (=pisilni) in public, as long it is on the rear (=hátsó) wheel (=kerék) of his motor vehicle (=jármű) and his right hand is on the vehicle. A pregnant (=állapotos) woman may relieve (=enyhít) herself wherever she wishes.

6.        The lance(=lándzsa) ceased(cease=megszűnik) to be an official (=hivatalos) battle weapon (=harci fegyver) in the British Army in 1927.

7. Dying (=haldoklás) is illegal in the Houses of Parliaments.

8. In 1647 the English Parliament abolished (abolish=megszűntetni) Christmas.

9. Some 80,000 umbrellas are lost annually on the London Underground.

10.    Britain is the only country in the world which doesn't have the country’s name in its postage stamps (=bélyeg). Placing a postage stamp bearing the monarch’s head upside down on an envelope is considered as act of treason (=árulás).
